This windy Presque Isle Marquette elopement day was so significantly different than any other elopement of wedding day. And basically that’s solely because it was so freaking windy! I’ve honestly never experienced weather like this on a wedding day in my entire 17 years of photographing weddings. But it definitely made for a memorable day!
We started at the Landmark Inn in downtown Marquette. This was my first time there, and it did not disappoint! If you’re looking for a quiet place, with alot of vintage charm, then definitely check them out! Matt and Rachel each had their own rooms for everyone to get ready in, so it made photographing each of them super easy.
Can we also just talk for a minute about all of the Lord of the Rings inspired details that they included in their day? Even in their vows to each other? If you didn’t know, I’m a HUGE LOTR fan. And it was also a huge part of their engagement session last January in Rockford, so that was alot of fun. Click Here to check out their engagement session at a little hobbit hole in the woods!
After all of the getting ready photos and a few portraits were done, we made our way over to an overlook on Presque Isle for Rachel and Matt’s first look and private vows. If you’re ever wondering what to do and you just have no clue where to start, definitely consider doing a first look and vows together. It’s such a special and intimate time for the two of you.
After they finished with their vows, we made time to take some portraits with the water as the perfect backdrop. And then before we headed over to the ceremony spot with the rest of the crew, we took a quick stroll down the road on Presque Isle for some fun, more in the moment style portraits.
Everyone met up at the pavilion near the front entrance of the park, and Matt and Rachel said I Do with the most important people of their lives present. It was seriously such an amazing day. Their parents and siblings were all present, and they even had the privilege of Rachel’s best friend being the one to officiate.
After the ceremony and a few more portraits out on the pier, we made our way over to the Delft Bistro for an intimate dinner and speeches. And it was the best way to end their day. You can see how much the people in their lives truly love Matt and Rachel. And it was such a beautiful thing to be a part of.
Matt, Rachel,
I seriously cannot thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of your day. You two are so chill and so much fun. I had such an amazing time with you both!
You both are so awesome and I’m so grateful I got to meet you!
