This Presque Isle Marquette elopement was seriously a day for the books. Not only did I get to photograph a wicked cool couple, but we went to some pretty spectacular places. If you’re looking to elope in Michigan, or honestly have a wedding of any size, you won’t be disappointed in Marquette one bit!

We started the day off at BobbiJo’s Air BnB which was this cute little A-frame style cabin just outside of downtown Marquette. It was the perfect size for her and her ladies to get ready at in the morning. While we were there, we hid BobbiJo away for a little bit so Martin could come over from the hotel and get ready and get some portraits. Also, sidenote – remember guys, you can where whatever kind of a suit strikes your fancy! Martin and BobbiJo are avid outdoors people, and so they chose colors that matched that style. And Martin’s tweed forest green suit was a freaking stunner!

After we did some getting ready photos and portraits at the cabin, we drove over to Sugarloaf Mountain for their first look. And we hiked pretty much all the way to the top of the mountain. And these two rockstars hiked up in their full wedding attire. It was an amazing thing to watch.

Pro-tip: if stairs happen to be your arch nemesis… then maybe opt not to do something like Sugarloaf. There were quite a few stairs.

Once everyone was at the top, this is when BobbiJo and Martin had their first look. The emotions were flowing! And we had the absolute best scenery for their backdrop! It was incredible. After their first look, they chose to do private vows together. I always love when couples decide to do their vows together, because it allows for both of you to show a little more emotion than you might when you have a group of people watching you. It’s just so much more intimate and special for the two of you.

After the vows, we all hiked back down to the parking lot and headed over to Presque Isle right on Lake Superior for their intimate ceremony. And surrounded by their closest friends and family, Martin and BobbiJo were officially married! And what a special moment it was for BobbiJo’s mother to be the one who officiated their elopement!

Once portraits were done at the overlook, we ended the evening at Dead River Falls with a little bit more hiking and a few more portraits. It was seriously such an amazing day.
