Back in July, I was able to meet up with Alex and Lauren for their engagement session at Grand Ravines park in Jenison. One of the things I loved about their session was that they picked locations that were a part of their lives together. They bring their dogs to the dog park at Grand Ravines, and then their second location you’ll see is an ice cream shop in Grand Rapids they liked to walk to when they lived close by.
Something I’ll always encourage my couples to do if they can is to pick locations that mean something to them. Whether it’s where you got engaged, where you met, where you had your first date. If it means something to you, then it adds another layer of meaning to your photos. And it’s just fun to look back and see!
I recognize that it’s not always possible, and no matter what I’m going to make sure you have the best session! Because let’s be real, no matter where we go, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure you have fun. I know engagement photos are seen sometimes as just part of the wedding process. But I honestly think it’s more than that.
Something that I’m seeing more and more of as we get further into 2026 is that people are loving the idea of romanticizing their lives a little bit more. And I’m here for it! And your engagement session is one way we can do that. Your life is one of a kind. No matter what anyone says, no matter what the world thinks. There is only one you. And your story is unique. So let’s document where you’re at now!
That’s something about Lauren and Alex’s session that I loved. They found spots that were a big part of their lives, and enjoyed their time there from a different perspective. Like I mentioned, we started their engagement session at Grand Ravines over in Jenison and walked around for a little bit. It was insanely hot in Michigan last summer, so we didn’t spend as much time walking around as we would like. So from there, we made our way down to Furniture City Creamery on Cherry Street where they were able to sit and enjoy some ice cream together while just chatting about upcoming wedding plans.
One specific aspect of Alex and Lauren’s session that I loved was that they planned it like a date night almost. They went to one of their favorite parks, an ice cream shop they loved, but made it just a tad bit more special than any other time they’d been there.
So if this sounds like something you’re down for, then head over to my contact form and let’s plan a session that’s perfectly YOU!
